Nutrient Management Technician

IDA Consulting Services, Inc. was established in 2015 to provide nutrient management assistance and environmental consulting services to Idaho’s dairy industry. IDA Consulting Services, Inc. is now accepting applications for a Nutrient Management Technician to be hired by May 2017. This is initially a part-time position becoming full-time within 60 days.

Workload activities:

• Assist staff with nutrient management planning, site evaluations, and environmental assessments
• Assist staff with conducting site visits for Public Drinking Water System support
• Conduct soil sampling in accordance with the guidelines outlined by producers’ nutrient management plans and the Idaho State Department of Agriculture
• Assist staff with filing and data entry
• Provide recordkeeping assistance for producers

Applicant qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• Ag related experience or an Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in agriculture, soil science, natural resources, or related field preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Willingness to gain state certification for soil sampling and writing Nutrient Management Plans within the first six months of employment
• Desire to learn and implement knowledge regarding Public Drinking Water Systems
• Valid Idaho driver’s license
• Willingness to travel within the state of Idaho to collect soil samples and conduct site assessments

Hourly or salary pay commensurate with experience and education. On-job training provided to assist the successful candidate in understanding current state and federal regulations and meet any state certification requirements. All application materials are due by May 1st, 2017 at 5:00 PM MT.
