Network Engineer

Stratford Solutions is assisting their client with finding a Network Engineer to add to their team located in Manhattan, NYC.

This is a full-time, direct hire, W2 position with our client.

Purpose of the role:
As client continues to grow they are looking to meet candidates who can help expand and strengthen their Network Engineering team. This is a customer facing role whose responsibilities include design, testing, and troubleshooting. Applicable candidates should be:

• Strong and well-rounded in networking
• Excellent troubleshooters with abilities to troubleshoot complex issues
• Capable of designing solutions small to large in complexity
• Thorough in testing methodologies and principles capable of providing in-depth reports based on RFC testing standards

Responsibilities and duties (include but not limited to)

• Design network solutions relying on low latency, high availability, and scalability.
• Design solutions leveraging low latency technologies such as, Layer 1-3 Ultra Low Latency Switches
• Conduct industry standard functional and performance testing of vendor technologies, new codes releases, and security patches.
• Create standards around products and services within the environment following engineering best practice and methodologies.
• Construct and/or peer-review standard configurations based upon design and/or technical concepts
• Work with Product Managers, Architects, and Engineers to design and build client products and applications
• Design solutions adherent to client and industry security standards.
• Provide technical guidance to implementation and operations engineers
• Present proposed designs to network engineering team for technical feedback
• Function as L3 escalation for operations
• Support network changes as needed.
• Participate in an on-call rotation

Skills and Experience Required:

• Strong in unicast/multicast routing and switching
• Strong in Juniper, Arista, and/or Cisco hardware and software
• Strong in troubleshooting and network analysis
• Knowledgeable in network design standards and best practices
• Knowledgeable in PTP, Boundary Clocks, Grandmasters, and other timing services
• Knowledgeable in best practice related to testing network hardware and software
• Familiar with network security standards, hardening, configuration, and best practices
• Familiar with Ansible or Python for network configuration
• Familiar with a Linux Operating System
• Familiar with JIRA as a ticketing system

Working Arrangements:
This is an office-based position. Though travel may be required from time to time, it is not expected to be regular or frequent. The role holder will be expected to work whatever hours are necessary for the performance of this role (recognizing that it involves multiple jurisdictions / geographies including but not limited to EMEA, USA and APAC).
