Municipal Court Clerk

The Municipal Court Clerk manages the daily operations of the Municipal Court for the City of Katy. Plans and oversees the courthouse budget and case management procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Schedules and administers all activities and processes for the Municipal Court
  • Trains, motivates, and evaluates staff; implements discipline and corrections process for employees
  • Manages the Department budget
  • Responsible for all court reports
  • Administers all dockets; oversees scheduling of all court dates on a monthly basis
  • Processes and prepares daily deposit

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training and Experience Guidelines:

High school diploma or equivalent; AND five (5) years of administrative courthouse operations experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge of:

  • Department policies and procedures.
  • Budgeting and accounting principles and practices.
  • Texas criminal and practice laws.
  • Scheduling procedures for municipal court dockets.

Skill in:

  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Operating a personal computer, standard software, and some specialized software.
  • Managing accurate records and filing systems.
  • Providing effective supervision and leadership to assigned staff.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires a Deputy Court Clerk level III certification.
  • A valid State Driver’s License may be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in a standard office and courtroom environment.
