Mechanical Engineer

Our client, a technology and research development company, has engaged CareerEncore (www.careerencore.com) to help them hire a Mechanical Engineer.

Experienced mechanical design engineer needed to participate in the development of innovative medical devices. Work as part of a team driving products through their lifecycle including concept generation, component and assembly development, testing and associated documentation. Candidate must have excellent problem solving and analytical skills and be able to learn quickly in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
: Generate creative solutions to design problems and demonstrate their viability considering factors such as risk, reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, weight and cost

: Transition concepts into products using 3D CAD Solid Modeling, defining requirements, selecting materials and processes, interacting with suppliers and manufacturers, and documenting the development process.

: Troubleshoot design failure modes to root cause and develop quick, effective solutions

: Coordinate with others in a multi-disciplinary team environment including electrical, software, industrial design, and controls.

: Evaluate designs through prototype testing and requirement verification

: Technical review and approval for all mechanical component and assembly designs, analysis, and testing

: Mentorship of junior engineers

Requirements:
: Mechanical Engineering Degree (or similar) from a 4 year institution

: Minimum 5 years experience in product design.

: Experience with small mechanism and plastic injection molded part design.

: Hands-on experience with mechanical design tools and software (CAD, FEA, etc) and tolerance analysis.

: Demonstrated experience with various component manufacturing/fabrication processes (Injection Molding, Sheet Metal/Stamping, Casting, Forging, Machining, etc.) and assembly processes (Electronics Assembly, Welding, Fastening, Automation, etc).

: Demonstrated evidence of individually solving a challenging technical problem required.

: Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills

: Must be highly motivated, focused on results and detail oriented

: Must be able to work in an open group environment

: Passion for a job well done and an intrinsic interest in how things work
