Whooshh Innovations™ is revolutionizing fish passage and seafood processing through our proprietary, proven technology—moving fish cost-effectively, reliably, and gently.

We are currently looking for a mechanical engineer to work within the core development team to develop the next generation of fish transport systems.

Responsibilities include:

Design and develop core transport system components

Thermal, structural, and tolerance analysis for mechanical assemblies using both hand calculations and finite element analysis

Participate in initial mechanical design, 3D modeling, creation of production drawings and maintenance of design data

Modelling & Analysis of biological systems using engineering fundamentals

Failure analysis of components

Interface with machine shops, fabricators, suppliers to ensure final designs can be produced in accordance with overall project goals

Education

BSME (masters preferred) & at least 2 years professional experience

Desired Qualifications & Experience:

Knowledge of CAE toolsets

Solidworks or willingness to learn required

Matlab experience a plus

Automation design

Experience with PLC control systems

Sheet metal design

Excellent communication skills

Ability to take ownership of entire design process from requirements definition to testing

Interest or knowledge of fish is a plus

Travel and occasional long hours required

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $80,000.00 to $90,000.00 /year
