Mechanical Engineer

Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is seeking Mechanical Engineers for our Portland, ME office to support our senior energy engineers and / or work on building designs. The Portland Design Center is a multi-disciplinary engineering and architecture office with over 60 engineers, architects, surveyors, designers and support staff. Amec Foster Wheeler offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects for a wide range of clients throughout the US from the relaxed environment of a small, vibrant city.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidates will have an interest or experience in the field of energy engineering to support our energy group in energy efficiency projects as well as an interest and knowledge of building design.

• HVAC Design
  
• Plumbing Design
  
• Investment grade energy audits of mechanical, lighting and plumbing systems
  
• Conceptual designs
  
• Identification of energy conservation measures
  
• Renewable energy studies and design
  
• Utility bill analysis
  
• Report preparation
  
• Preparation of design drawings and specifications, bidding documents, and construction summary documents
  

Skills / Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field (MS in Mechanical Engineering desired)
  
• 5 years and up of related experience
  
• Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification with Professional Engineer (PE) testing planned within 6 months
  
• Excellent interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills
  
• Proactive problem solver
  
• Demonstrated professional judgment, consistency and attention to detail
  
• Strong computer skills
  
• Strong work ethic
  
• Ability and willingness to travel to project sites; minimum 30% travel
  
• Adaptability and willingness to adjust to client needs
  
• Ability to climb
  
• Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company’s driving (MVR) policy
