Initial salary placement is commensurate with required education and related teaching experience as outlined in section A2.2 of the AFT Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and it is non-negotiable. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid medical, dental, vision plans, sick leave, and opportunities for professional development. This position is FLSA Exempt and may not accrue overtime. Benefits will be provided under the terms of the AFT -Guild, Local 1931 – Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement. Annual Salaries will be recalculated for service less than a full academic year based on Education Code §87815, any required adjustment will be made with-in the first pay period. Travel reimbursement for interviewees traveling more than 200 miles, one-way, may be paid according to geographic location (see SDCCD Travel Stipend Policy, Rev 7/14/2011). Typically, Contract Instructor-College Credit begin in the SDCCD Faculty unit as Assistant Professors, earn tenure after 4 years and promote to Associate Professor. The Position

The position reports to the Dean of Engineering and Technology, Mathematics, Sciences, and Nursing. Teaching duties will include lecture and laboratory sections in lower division Manufacturing/Industrial technology or related areas.

Major Responsibilities

The position includes a strong commitment to community college teaching, the ability to contribute to the development and implementation of innovative, interdisciplinary programs and curriculum development and Student learning outcomes assessment, and strong industry involvement. Assignments may include day, evening, Saturday, and/or off-campus classes.

Qualifications

Any bachelor’s degree or higher AND two years of professional experience

OR

Any associate degree AND six years of professional experience

OR

Possession of a California Community College Instructor Credential (valid for life) in the field of Manufacturing/Industrial Technology.

Desired Qualifications

1. Demonstrated current mastery of manufacturing/industrial technology with related industry experience.

2. Demonstrated plan for the continued mastery of the subject matter.

3. Demonstrated experience and professional growth working with industry and business including experience/involvement working with professional or technical societies.

4. Ability to market the program to prospective students that would include both high schools and industry based organizations.

5. A minimum of three years full time experience in industry in any of the following areas: statistical process control, automation, electromechanical systems, quality control, lean manufacturing, industrial safety, electronics, controls and manufacturing processes.

6. Recent successful experience in teaching community college-level manufacturing/industrial technology or engineering technology lecture and laboratory courses.

7. The ability to make effective classroom presentations with strong communication skills by demonstrating a working knowledge of learning theory, techniques of teaching and subject matter mastery.

8. Experience and/or interest in lecture and laboratory course curriculum development relevant to this discipline.

9. The ability to instruct, assess and counsel students of great diversity in background and educational development.

10. The ability to integrate the use of technology in lecture and laboratory.
