SUMMARY:

Candidate would be responsible for special order/non-standard cutting tool production and assisting in the training of other CNC operators. Provide Engineering support to the manufacturing and quoting departments. Help develop all standard/special CNC programs and Engineering documents for process standardization.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND GOALS:

  • Help Create / edit / maintain standard/non-standard CNC tool and cutter grinding programs
  • Help Create / edit / maintain Engineering technical documents (tech packs) including but not limited to:
    • Geometry specification sheets
    • Product drawings
    • Job routers
    • Process sheets
    • Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Ensure the specials/quotations work order management and production process providing a consistent (1 day) turnaround on specials quotations and (3 week) lead-time on specials production
  • Work closely with process engineering on creation of automated documentation process
  • Train “A” level CNC Tool and Cutter grinding positions to qualified training criteria, with a focus on non-standard specials and a secondary focus on standards.
  • Continuous Improvement initiatives including but not limited to:
    • CNC cycle time optimization
    • Setup time reduction (SMED)
    • Reducing machine down time
    • Increasing machine efficiencies
    • Other LEAN initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering field preferred
  • Associates degree in Machine Tool Technology required or 3+ years in a technical role
  • 5+ years of applicable work experience in a cutting tool manufacturing environment
  • Walter Tool Studio programming training required
  • Walter Helicheck programming training preferred
  • Proficient with Walter Tool Studio and Windows Mode programming
  • NUMROTO software experience is a plus
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to function in a self-directed environment
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and handle numerous tasks simultaneously

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Regular standing, sitting, and speaking
  • Frequent walking
  • Occasional climbing stairs, reaching overhead, and lifting up to 50 pounds

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Climate controlled manufacturing plant
  • Noise levels within OSHA guidelines
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required while in manufacturing plant
