Manufacturing Engineer – Plastics Processing

Grayline, a leading manufacturer of custom polymer tubing, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to work in our modern facility located in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Grayline products have been used since 1966 in applications such as appliance and automotive wire harnesses, medical equipment, and a wide variety of other industrial and consumer products.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in engineering or a similar discipline, but non-degreed candidates will also be considered based on their experience working in Process or Manufacturing Engineering roles. Experience and specific training in one or more areas of plastics processing is preferred.

Success in this position will require a good technical understanding of polymer materials and processing, attention to detail, project management, a willingness to be hands-on as needed, and good interpersonal skills.

Principal duties and responsibilities include:

– Providing technical support to Production, Quality and Maintenance functions

– Creating production cost estimates, standards, routings and bills of material

– Designing tooling and equipment improvements

– Leading process optimization and continuous improvement activities, using DOE and lean manufacturing principles

– Working with Application Engineering and customers to review and develop new products and processes

– Authoring written standard procedures and work instructions, and participate in quality audits
