Manufacturing Engineer

Develop and implement manufacturing process improvements throughout our facility including sheet metal cutting, forming, welding, machining, painting, assembly and other areas. The field of automation involves the creation and application of technology to monitor or control the production and delivery of products and services. Manufacturing engineers design, program, simulate and test automated machinery and processes to complete exact tasks where robots or machines are used to perform specific functions. Responsible for design specifications and other detailed documentation. Will work with internal customers, suppliers, and all levels of shop and management personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and launch LEAN production throughout the plants
  • Work with cross-functional teams to achieve continuous improvement program targets such as engineering, purchasing, quality, shop and management personnel
  • Present status reports demonstrating progress toward pre-determined timelines, working with Gannt charts and spreadsheets
  • Leads and participates in Continuous improvement events and tasks such as plant layouts, cellular manufacturing, standard cost improvements, quality and safety initiatives
  • Provides timely communication on significant issues or developments
  • Implements LEAN tools such as 5S concepts, Six-Sigma, Kanban, Kaizen, and Value Steam mapping to eliminate waste
  • Actively engages in continued training, development, and growth of all plan personnel
  • Provides back-up and assistance to programmers as necessary
  • Completes capital justifications with an emphasis on ROI

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years’ experience working in a similar position
  • Programming experience for CNC machinery (lasers, punches, mills) a plus
