Manager, Immigration Specialists

Amazon’s Global Immigration Operations & Services (GIOS) Team in the HR Services organization is seeking a leader to build a best-in-class team to support internal customers with US immigration case management. This new U.S. Immigration Business and Employee Support Team, based in Seattle, will provide case management for individual employees and candidates in close partnership with our outsourced firms. In this role you will oversee the team, be responsible for hiring, coaching and developing team members, and thinking long-term to build processes both for today and for the future. The right leader for this role values continuous improvement, process and data inspection, seeking customer feedback, and enjoys growing new programs and capabilities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Hiring and developing a team of U.S. Immigration Specialists focused on delivering support to our internal business partners and employees
  • Ensure team receives regular U.S. immigration training via work with external counsel, participation in webinars, seminars or conferences, and in internal meetings with GIOS and Mobile Talent & Immigration Strategy (MTIS)
  • Work with Program Owners, Immigration Specialists, and external counsel as needed to manage complex queries, including escalations, assessments of immigration options
  • Educate managers and business partners on employee U.S. immigration concerns, strategies, and guidelines
  • Communicate regular updates to employees and stakeholders both verbally and in writing
  • Build durable and sustainable processes and produce reliable results
  • Regular and deliberate inspection of the team’s products and services; continuous improvement

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of U.S. immigration experience, either within a law firm (such as a paralegal with responsibility for immigration petition preparation/filing) or in-house in an organization with a significant volume of immigration-supported employees or in a recruiting or HR role with heavy U.S. immigration involvement
  • 2+ years of experience in managing a small to mid-size team with successful track record of developing talent

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing guidance to employees, managers, recruiters, or HR on highly sensitive, confidential matters
  • Experience working multiple projects or cases independently in environment with changing priorities
  • Experience working with confidential information
  • Technically proficient in MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint
