Position Title: Mainframe Developer

Location: Harrisburg, PA

We expect quick feedback from Highmark management on this role and have an expected start date of mid September.

Mainframe Developer – 3018 – Harrisburg, PA (Deer Path Road)

  • Responsible for analysis, design, programming, testing and implementation for new and existing business application software, and production support for systems with medium complexity.
  • Qualifications include good organizational skills, strong analytical and problem solving skills, good time management skills, ability to work independently, and effectively communicate with customers.
  • The incumbent must be capable of working at a broad technical level in all phases of the application systems project life-cycle, and must be able to apply business knowledge and technical skills to systems development.

Additional Skills: COBOL, JCL, Endevor, DB2, IMS, mainframe

Job Description

The Mainframe Developer is an experience technical resource who can work independently, contributing to application development efforts . The Mainframe Developer is expected to actively participate in all phases of the system development cycle. The developer is expected to be proficient in one or more technology disciplines with a sound understanding of mainframe application environment.

Key Responsibilities

:

  • Act as primary development resource on assigned tasks.
  • Prepare time estimates for individual deliverables.
  • Code application programs from complex specifications.
  • Contribute in code and technical design reviews.
  • Contribute towards potential for process and standards improvement.
  • Prepare status reports on the progress of all projects.
  • Participate in on-call, 24/7 coverage as required

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 3 to 5 years of technical experience developing applications with any of the following mainframe skills: COBOL , CICS, IMS, DB2, JCL, TSO, VSAM, Easytrieve
  • Familiarity with source control tools and system tools like File-aid, sort, CA-7, Outbound, SPUFI, Panvalet, SQL
  • Solid understanding of all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and programs to find resolutions in a timely manner
  • Ability to multitask, understand the criticality of issues, demonstrate sense of urgency
  • Excellent customer service, communication and collaboration skills.
