Local Distribution Planner (Modderfontein)

AEL is looking to recruit a Local Distribution Planner to work in Modderfontein. To coordinate contractors for the provision of safe, efficient and cost effective transport services to AEL.

AEL Mining Services, a member of the JSE-listed AECI Group in South Africa, is a leading developer, producer and supplier of commercial explosives, initiating systems and blasting services for mining, quarrying and construction markets in Africa and Indonesia. AEL is also the largest supplier of explosives technology and initiating systems in Africa.

Duties & Responsibilities • Coordinate the transport contractors and compile reports on delivery of transport contractors against service level agreement monthly.

  • Coordinate the sourcing of vehicles if demand exceeds supply for the day.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce inefficiencies, transport costs and continuously improve transport practices.
  • Update the database on all transport statistics including monthly spend, monthly kilometres travelled, tons moved monthly, number of sleepovers per day, long distance trips per day, capacity utilisation, fleet utilisation and rand per cents per ton per kilometre.
  • Compile input required into the transport tender process.
  • Comply with governance and established policies, systems, procedures and practices.

Comply with Safety, Health and Environment standards.

Qualifications & Experience • Degree or diploma in logistics.

  • At least 1-2 years’ experience in coordinating high value transport contracts.
  • Understanding all of areas of the supply chain.
  • Understanding of transport operational systems.
  • SAP experience strongly preferred.
