Solidus is searching for an Engineer to work on building and maintaining multiple Linux/Unix based and Windows based computational support systems.

The successful candidate will join a group that is involved in a synergistic combination of research, proof-of-concept test beds, and system engineering/application efforts focused on the goals of enhancing the capacity, the robustness to interference, and the flexibility of future generations of satellite and line-of-sight radio communications systems.

Responsibilities:

-Work closely with technical project lead engineers to identify computational hardware and software needs to meet project objectives across multiple projects.

-Research and implement technical options to meet project needs (both near term development and pre-planning for longer term maintenance requirements)

-Set up and maintain hardware platforms (including the use of virtual machines to multiply the number of independent users while minimizing hardware maintenance footprint)

-Set up and maintain user tools identified for individual project needs

-Assist in the negotiation of security compliance requirements balancing security goals against technical project requirements

-Identify and maintain storage and backup for computational systems

-Domains: Software/application design, development, and support; coder; web interface; graphic design; system configuration management; system troubleshooting.

-Evaluate and propose use of open source and commercial software, frameworks, and tools where applicable.

-Take lead role in coordinating a team of subcontract engineers in the build-out and maintenance of computational systems for projects

Requirements:

-Requires a TOP SECRET clearance to start. The eligibility to obtain a TS will not be considered-Eight or more years of experience primarily in a Linux/UNIX-based Environment with secondary experience in Windows-based environments

-ISC2 Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

-MS Degree in computer science or related field-Experience with VMware ESXi 5.x and VSphere for management of the environment

-Experience configuring and maintaining RedHat Enterprise Linux 6.x-Experience configuring and maintaining MS

-Windows Server 2008R2(DNS,DHCP, NTP, etc)

-Experience with system administration automation tools such as RHEL Satellite, Nagios, Puppet

-Experience with storage subsystems and disk arrays, in particular NetApp and Equallogics

-Experience with enterprise backup systems, software and tape library’s

-Experience with fundamentals of networking and distributed computing environments, especially with TCP/IP protocols and debugging

-Experience configuring network routing/VLANs and troubleshooting-Experience configuring network filesystems and protocols (e.g., NFS,SMB, iSCSI, FC)

-Experience configuring and maintaining LDAP in a Linux environment

-Knowledge of a script language (e.g., Bash, Perl, Python)

-Demonstrated ability to help engineers refine requirements and to suggest appropriate solutions to problems-Strong oral and written communication skills

Additionally Desired:

-Hands-on experience with specific products or technologies listed above

-Programming and debugging ability in full-featured languages in addition to scripting languages-Experience with client operating systems such as MS

-Windows 7 and Mac OS-X Lion, as many users will be using these OSes to interact with the server
