Linux Systems Administrator

Junior Systems Administrator, UNIX/LINUX – Full Time, On Site, Boca Raton FL

The Junior Unix Systems Administrator support and assist Senior Engineers and management in efforts to maintain and improve 1000+ Unix physical & virtual servers.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain UNIX systems across a fleet of 1000+ systems
• Ensure secure & effective operation of computing systems through maintaining industry compliance adherence.
• Troubleshoot and resolve system problems
• Test and implement OS and applications patches
• Coordinate with the Security Administrators and Systems Analysts to maintain & improve the technical standards
• Work with other systems administrators, engineers and vendors to resolve hardware and software issues.
• Develop and document procedures for startup, execution, shutdown, backup, and recovery.
• Monitor systems performance.
• Install and configure open source and commercial software packages
• Will have excellent oral and written skills creating programmatic documentation, standard operating procedures and granular process checklists.
• Maintain documentation/notes on software builds and installs
• Assist users with use of computing systems

Key Skill Requirements:

• Perl and BASH scripting for automating system tasks.
• Configuration and management of Apache, Nginx, MySQL
• Ability to racking, installing, network, and troubleshoot servers and storage systems
• Experience supporting Microsoft Windows interoperability with UNIX.
• Experience with RAID and disk array management
• Experience with Firewalls and concepts such as SNAT and DNAT
