Kid's Club & Activities Manager

SUMMARY

Plans, organizes, and directs comprehensive recreation programs and special events at resort by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

DUTIES

Direct supervision of the entire Activities program.

Direct supervision of Kids/Club.

Create, implement, and direct activity and special event programs using themed concepts.

Formulate an environment, which will increase team member morale, motivation, and promote team spirit.

Prepare departmental budget.

Direct communication with Westgate vendors such as Resort Recreation and Tourism Management (RR & TM), Orlando Dive, Hair Ropes etc… In order to facilitate products, programs, and services for Activities/Events.

Interview applicants, verify references, and hire personnel.

Inputs and reviews Kronos payroll system, and prepares RR & TM time cards.

Set policy and procedures for department.

Attend weekly staff meetings with department heads, supervisors & managers.

Perform weekly staff meetings with department and prepare reports.

Responsible for inputting and updating the resort information television channel.

Prepare supervisory reports for accidents and remain updated on emergency/safety procedures.

Prepare weekly schedules, and update attendance records.

Responsible for staffing: a.) Activities Coordinator. b.) Assistant Child Care Director. c.) Kids Club staff.

Prepare and update activities brochures

Coordinate training for Kids Club Department CPR and First Aid and 10 clock hours in childcare

Responsible for accurate inventory and purchasing of sports and recreation related equipment.

Responsible for purchasing items needed to maintain Kids Club.

Report any items in need of repair in the Kids Club or Activities Area (main pool) to Engineering/

Train Staff on subjects such as age appropriate activities, positive reinforcement, and customer service.

Maintain weekly and monthly records of all inventories purchased and distributed through the Activities department.

Maintain records of activity inventory and prepare them in accordance with CFI and Westgate accounting departments.

Remain updated on all recreation and sports equipment, as well as game room and outdoor recreation facilities to meet appropriate safety standards.

Responsible for canceling or shutting down various equipment and activities/events when weather or other conditions pose a safety hazard to participants.

Prepare, design, order, and distribute marketing material for resort, VIP, or team member activities/events.

Perform other tasks as assigned by the General Manager or Director of resort Operations.

Requisition supplies for activities and events, or team member programs, Kids Club and Activity Center.

Serve as speaker/host at resort functions when called upon.

Purchase and pick up recreation equipment when necessary.

Supervises and analyzes recreational needs and resources.

Interprets recreation programs and their philosophy to individuals and groups through personal participation and staff assignments.

Cooperates with recreation and non-recreation personnel.

Responsible for preparation of license renewal which includes staff childcare training hours.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages Assistant Director, subordinate supervisors and team members of the Activities and Kids Club departments. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelors degree from four-year college or university; or two to three years of related experience working and/or training in an activity department or program of a large resort with at least two of these years in a supervisory capacity; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess background in child care.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Knowledge of graphics programs and basic computer skills. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from owners/guests, venders, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITIES

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variable.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Current drivers license; First aid and CPR.
