Jr Business Intelligence Developer

JOB DESCRIPTION: As a member of the Application & Data team, the primary objective of this position is to understand our business/products/systems at SCC to provide innovative, streamlined, reusable and maintainable solutions in the area of ETL and data related projects. This position will also support the existing data applications, build new systems to reduce the cost of 3rd party software products for SCC and provide outstanding support for the business users.

JOB DUTIES:

• Effectively plan and manage Data related activities (ETL/Backend programs) on projects
• Scope, plan and execute data related activities on a project.
• Analyze business requirements and functional specifications for technical design; develop detailed designs and build the data models and data programs for the projects.
• Identify and resolve issues on the project related tasks by escalating at the appropriate time.
• Support the team in driving resolution of issues with new and existing systems.
• Assist in improving the SDLC process and ensure adherence to the process, standards and methodology for all releases.
• Perform data/system analysis to understand the business problems.
• Recommends system solutions by comparing advantages and disadvantages of custom development and purchase alternatives.
• Provide efficient and streamlined solutions on incidents and service requests.
• Thoroughly unit test the fixes/enhancements to the existing data applications as part of tickets.
• Participate in technical discussion with the team members to identify root causes.
• Adherence to ITSM policies implemented by the organization.
• Perform the data modelling for the OLAP (data warehouse/star schemas) system to bring in the data from the various EMRs and other OLTP system.
• Knowledge gaining and sharing with other members of the team to provide greater support footprint for the team.
• Proactively work with senior IT management and business sponsors or stakeholders to ensure application functionality is as per expectations.
• Demonstrate and apply a balanced mix of technical and business skills

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education equivalent to Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent in related work experience in Information Technology, Business, or other related discipline.
• At least 2 years of experience as database developer using SQL.
• At least 2 years of experience as ETL engineer using tools such as SQL Server and SSIS.
• Must have at least 2 years of experience working in environments that require both production support and project developments.
• Experience with data modelling for OLAP systems using the Kimball’s approach.
• At least 2 year of experience in building or supporting ETL processes for a data warehouses.
• At least 2 year of experience working with data marts and with strong experience on star and dimensional modeling.
• Strong problem-solving and metadata skills are required.
• Microsoft BI stack experience is mandatory (SQL Server/SSIS/SSRS/SSAS).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have the ability to safely perform movements such as pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching and lifting up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations

WORK CONDITIONS:
As assigned, including some weekends, evenings and holidays; exempt position
