System Engineer

We are seeking an System Engineer to utilize their skills in our Dallas office. The System Engineer supports the Engineering team achieving their objectives to deploy and operate our internal systems.

Responsibilities include:

• Help automate and streamline our operations and processes.
• Build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring and operations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in our dev, test and production environments.
• System administration on Linux and Windows
• Tracking incoming service tickets to closure
• Installation and configuration of IBM software
• Assist in maintaining and managing our private cloud infrastructure
• Manage individual projects priorities, deadlines and deliverables

Required skills:

• Excellent grammar and verbal skills
• Strong background in Linux/Unix Administration
• Experience with automation/configuration management using either Puppet, Chef or an equivalent
• Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services
• Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service

Minimum qualifications :

• Shell scripting experience
• Basic networking experience (firewalls, security practices)
• Good verbal and written communication skills (English)
• Engaged problem-solver who perseveres in challenges through to a swift resolution

Desired Experience:

• Experience with VoIP, WebSphere Application Server, Databases, Eclipse, Java
• Proven coding skills in Java, HTML, and JavaScript
• Strong experience with SQL and MySQL
• A working understanding of code and script (PHP, Python, Perl and/or Ruby)
