ABOUT US:

We are an ITIL process based, growing company located in North County looking for one position: Junior Systems Engineer to add to our team. As we move into the increasingly changing Information Technology space, our IT needs are growing. Our core focus initiatives are VM Ware, Hyper V, BDR, LabTech, Connectwise, Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure. ABOUT THE ROLE:

You will be assisting a key person in our Systems Engineering group. Alongside other team members you’ll assist in administering our Windows Servers and help with Exchange, AD, VM Ware & HyperV administration and support from a Tier I & II perspective.

The primary role is to support end users of all systems within our control. This includes communicating with technical and non-technical client personnel, managing the helpdesk, validating tickets, installing software and hardware, communicating with end users, and responding to issues with network hardware or operating systems. This person will also be responsible for implementing and securing client computing environment and uphold best practices and policy. All Personnel will have overlapping responsibilities. The person will also analyze and resolve end user hardware/software and connectivity issues in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required. The qualified candidate must be able to manage resources in a complex Highly-Available environment and maintain accountability and organization of the same. Must be able to document each task in a timely manner after each ticket closure.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES YOU WILL ASSIST IN ALONGSIDE A SENIOR ENGINEER:

  • Support Microsoft client and server Operating Systems, and other related software
  • Provide front-line support for all helpdesk inquiries
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot end client desktops/laptops/servers
  • Replicate User Issues and Perform Troubleshooting
  • Escalate Helpdesk Tickets to Administrators, Engineers, or Management as necessary
  • Troubleshoot Firewall issues on various firewalls (Cisco, Palo Alto, Meraki & Sonicwall)
  • Ensure Procedure is followed and Documentation is adequate for all tickets prior to closing
  • Educate Users on System Use and Troubleshooting
  • Install and Support MS Office Applications
  • Distribute, Manage and Support End-User desk and Smartphones
  • Perform Active Directory Maintenance such as Password Resets and Granting Permissions
  • Perform as a system administrator and network engineer maintaining, updating and enhancing the production systems and network, including monitoring, managing, and tuning servers, systems and networks to ensure expected availability and performance levels are achieved.
  • Operating System Validation and Testing as needed
  • Interact with clients across different functional roles in different companies
  • Liaison between Technical and Non-Technical client contacts & between sales and end user
  • Perform System failure analysis and recovery
  • Recommend and implement changes to operational processes
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support Tier 1/2 Support Personnel, Hosted Events/Alarms, or escalations generated by the support staff.

SHARED RESPONSIBILITIES WITH ANOTHER SENIOR ENGINEER:

  • Field Tech Support Calls from External Clients
  • Support Internal Users/Troubleshoot User-related issues
  • Manage Helpdesk Queue and Respond to Requests
  • Must be able to learn and functionally use ConnectWise & LabTech software.
  • Manage Active Directory, ERP Line of Business applications, all other user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
  • Support critical enterprise application servers when required or assigned.
  • Work with other IT Personnel to ensure seamless operations with tech support staff
  • Ensure all policy compliance controls are adhered to.
  • Reactive Maintenance first, then Proactive Maintenance (i.e. Verify Backups, event logs)
  • Equal participation in 24x7x365 on-call coverage is required.
  • Must be customer focused, action-oriented, able to set priorities, problem solve and possess strong business acumen.
  • Strong experience with system management tools, logical file systems, and client/server environments
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must possess excellent communication, and project management skills.

REQUIREMENTS:

– 2+ years experience with Windows Server Administration

– Entry Level Experience with Exchange Server, Active Directory and Group Policy

– Experience with Local Area and Wide Area Networks.

– Entry Level TCP/IP and LAN/WAN troubleshooting ability

– Proven ability in producing and documenting configurations and policies

– SOP preparation and follow through a must

– Ready to learn & implement Amazon Web Services & Microsoft Azure

– Ability to think out of the box and implement creative ideas
