IT Support Specialist

The IT Support Specialist will work as a member of the IT Service Desk team, which is part of the IT Systems department, supporting the business by providing IT services. In particular the upkeep and restoration of normal operations where IT systems are affected. This position will facilitate high quality IT services that support and enhance the business wherever systems are used.

Essential Functions

  • Provide qualified 1st and 2nd level support for users in the organization in order to swiftly rectify incidents and problems of IT systems. Record incidents in the support tool for documentation and traceability purposes.
  • Provide support to users in technical matters and answer queries in regard to the use of the available IT equipment.
  • Assign system access rights and installing software and hardware in accordance with the relevant procedures
  • Monitor IT systems
  • Resolve and facilitate the resolution of incidents and problems and where required liaise with the appropriate national or international specialists
  • Ensure a stable and cost efficient operation of specific IT systems used throughout our organization
  • Adhere to service levels agreed with the end users
  • Provide IT services as part of the IT Service Desk team within defined service hours including on-call duties outside regular business hours. This can include operation in a shift system in accordance with company needs.
  • Ensure high standards of quality, stability and consistency of the IT system environment according to our Principles of Administration and international guidelines.
  • Responsible for the setup, take down and re-location of all PC systems and other IT equipment.

Required

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Advanced Troubleshooting skills in a multi-user high pressure environment
  • Understanding of networking concepts such as DNS, DHCP, Email, HTTP, SSL, OSI Model, and TCP/IP protocols and applications
  • Proven skills in PC repair, troubleshooting, deployment, and liquidation
  • May require lifting or carrying IT equipment up to 50 lbs.

Required Education, Certifications/ Licenses, Related Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years hands-on IT Support experience

Physical Job Requirements

  • This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position standing and seated for half the time.
  • The person in this role must be able to position him/herself kneel, crawl, crouch down to fulfill the essential functions of the role less than half the time.
  • The person in this position must be able to maneuver (lift, move, carry, slide, etc.) 15 – 40 lbs.
  • This position operates machinery and/or equipment that requires the constant use of hands/fingers/wrists.
  • This position requires the ability to spend all of the time viewing computer monitors
