Position Purpose : The IT Field Technician reports to the Manager, Technical Services and provides technical and functional support to all of The Fikes Companies’ business units and departments. This support includes system selection and installation, documenting policies and procedures, testing and troubleshooting applications, identifying and implementing solutions to system incidents, providing training support, implementing and testing system upgrades and maintenance, updating parameters, identifying and implementing enhancements, and identifying new technologies that will best meet organizational needs.

Responsibilities :

  • Utilizes knowledge of computer equipment, networks and computer software capabilities.
  • Demonstrates safe/responsible work habits to avoid injuries, damage to property, and to ensure maximum system up time and functionality.
  • Maintains inventory control of IT equipment and systems at all assigned facilities.
  • Exhibits professional appearance and conduct in accordance with Company standards while working with end-users and the general public.
  • Supports various IT applications including store point-of-sale system, store computer systems and store peripherals (e.g., barcode scanners, printers, etc.).
  • Uses and operates diverse computer software applications including client-server applications, web-based applications and transaction processing applications.
  • Tests, trouble-shoots, and provides overall quality control of numerous software applications.
  • Identifies, prioritizes, resolves, documents, and communicates technical and operational issues.
  • Leverages Incident Management System (currently Corrigo) to manage incidents through resolutions.
  • Estimating problem resolution times through detailed collaboration with other team members.
  • Interacts with internal clients and application vendors as part of operational activities such as customer support, technical and operational integration, and system maintenance.
  • Maintains high internal and client satisfaction through successful and timely resolution of technical and operational problems.
  • Provides regular status updates/reports. Required Qualifications :
  • Positon is located in Temple, TX – applicants must reside in town or surrounding areas, possess a valid driver’s license, and be able to travel within a 150 mile radius of Temple, TX.
  • Experience in retail Information Technology support.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Proficient in retail hardware and software systems including VeriFone Ruby/Commander POS hardware and POS software.
  • Previous experience troubleshooting application-related problems.
  • Ability to install and verify software package installations.
  • Solid communication (verbal and written) skills with all levels of employees
  • Able to work in a fast paced rapidly, ever-changing environment.
  • Possess a strong customer service skillset

Desired Qualifications :

  • Convenience store support experience.
  • CompTIA (A+, Network+, or Security+)
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs should probably be included somewhere
