Investment Committee Members

The South African National Parks hereby invites independent suitably qualified and interested individuals to serve as members of its Investment Committee for a period of two (2) years.

Remuneration:

Remuneration of members of the Investment Committee (if applicable) will be in accordance with National Treasury Regulations on Remuneration Levels: Office-Bearers of Statutory and Other Institutions, as approved by the Minister of Finance.

Requirements:

The member of the committee should at least meet the following competency requirements:

Necessary leadership and personal qualities,

Ability to lead and participate in discussions,

An understanding of the committeeâ€™s role and responsibilities,

Sound knowledge of Project Management and the Investment landscape as well as issues affecting Public Entities.

Experience in the following fields:

Relevant experience and qualification in any of the following:

Financial Management,

Accounting,

Corporate Governance,

Legal,

Risk Management,

Project Management,

Investment Management

Environmental management

Qualification:

Successful candidates will have to be in possession of a Degree in the field of Accounting / Finance, Economics or Construction related from a recognised institution, whilst a post graduate qualification will be an added advantage. Minimum of 10 to 15 yearsâ€™ experience in project development and management, corporate finance, financial management & economic analysis, investment management. Experience in the Tourism and Conservation sector would be an added advantage.

Responsibilities:

Consideration and approval of funding proposals within its Terms of Reference.

Seek any information or data it requires from the management of SANParks.

Obtain outside legal or other independent professional advice where applicable.

Adopt and implement a clear capital allocation approach.

Amendments to Approval Decisions and Project Terminations.

Consideration of Management Reports for monitoring and decision making.

Regular reporting to the CEO and Executive Committee
