Investment Committee Members

The South African National Parks hereby invites independent suitably qualified and interested individuals to serve as members of its Investment Committee for a period of two (2) years.


Remuneration:

Remuneration of members of the Investment Committee (if applicable) will be in accordance with National Treasury Regulations on Remuneration Levels: Office-Bearers of Statutory and Other Institutions, as approved by the Minister of Finance.

Requirements:

The member of the committee should at least meet the following competency requirements:

  • Necessary leadership and personal qualities,
  • Ability to lead and participate in discussions,
  • An understanding of the committee’s role and responsibilities,
  • Sound knowledge of Project Management and the Investment landscape as well as issues affecting Public Entities.
  • Experience in the following fields:

    Relevant experience and qualification in any of the following:

  • Financial Management,
  • Accounting,
  • Corporate Governance,
  • Legal,
  • Risk Management,
  • Project Management,
  • Investment Management
  • Environmental management
  • Qualification:

    Successful candidates will have to be in possession of a Degree in the field of Accounting / Finance, Economics or Construction related from a recognised institution, whilst a post graduate qualification will be an added advantage. Minimum of 10 to 15 years’ experience in project development and management, corporate finance, financial management & economic analysis, investment management. Experience in the Tourism and Conservation sector would be an added advantage.

    Responsibilities:

  • Consideration and approval of funding proposals within its Terms of Reference.
  • Seek any information or data it requires from the management of SANParks.
  • Obtain outside legal or other independent professional advice where applicable.
  • Adopt and implement a clear capital allocation approach.
  • Amendments to Approval Decisions and Project Terminations.
  • Consideration of Management Reports for monitoring and decision making.
  • Regular reporting to the CEO and Executive Committee
