Industrial Electrician II

The Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) campus contains approximately 120,000 kVA of installed electric capacity feeding over 7 million square feet of building space across a 400 acre campus. The OCCC electrical infrastructure includes onsite power generation and distribution voltages up to 12,500. There is an extensive network of both permanent and temporary power infrastructure necessary to host 200 events with 1.4 million attendees annually.

Additionally, the OCCC campus is home to a very large District Energy System (DES) containing approximately 15,000 tons of chilled water production and distribution capacity serving the I-Drive Convention District of which OCCC Industrial Electricians must play a key role to ensure that OCCC owned electrical infrastructure supporting the DES are in top condition at all times

Troubleshoots and repairs controls and electrical on heavy industrial equipment including drives, generators, up to 12,500 volt power distribution equipment. Maintains and troubleshoots large horsepower motors up to 1000HP. Calibrates control equipment to factory specifications including flow meters, pressure transducers, temperature transducers, and vibration sensing equipment. Tests and performs preventative and predictive maintenance on motor control systems and AC/DC motors. . Performs as lead electrical technician organizing and supervising technicians during upgrades and repairs of complex electrical systems. Plans jobs and assigns duties as needed.

Troubleshoots and writes ladder logic diagrams using PLC controls and electrical run sheets. Uses technical manuals and prints to isolate and repair wastewater control systems. Operates, maintains, updates and repairs sophisticated electrical power distribution controls. Maintains and updates an effective electrical maintenance PM program ensuring all equipment is maintained on a periodic schedule in a timely manner. Calibrates and maintains instruments including, pH meters, C12 analyzers, DO meters and other instruments using a 4-20ma control signal. Repairs and maintains an extensive lighting system in support of building maintenance. Install new conduit, boxes, and panels and pull wire to code as needed to support equipment upgrades. Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent and ten years of electrical experience in industrial motor controls. Extensive PLC programming knowledge and experience maintaining electronics instruments in accordance with technical specifications, experience with test meters for measuring current, voltage and resistance and have worked from wiring schematics and prints to accomplish repairs; or an equivalent combination of relevant education or experience.

Must be familiar with and utilize the NEC standards. Must be able to determine problems commonly associated with motors, generators, and service.

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License by date of hire.

May be required to perform mandatory Emergency Standby Duty.

Master Electrical License

Strong understanding of international power standards
