SG360° a Segerdahl company is looking for an apprentice to train and grow in our organization. Great opportunity to work and train in the printing industry.

We want to sponsor your training on the job and at a local community college as an inkjet imaging technician.

What will you be doing as an apprentice? -You will be attending school and applying your training on the job as well as receive on the job training to setup, maintain and troubleshoot high-speed commercial inkjet equipment.

No experience necessary!

Required qualifications for applicants:

  • High School Diploma or GED by June 2018
  • "college ready" test scores (ACT 17/Accuplacer, tests can be retaken)
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable car
  • Reliable, motivated and eager to learn
  • Willingness to attend and successfully participate in paid college courses 2 days a week for 3 years to complete your degree

Once you complete your training, the responsibilities of the Vision Inspection Technician is below:

Job Summary: The visions systems at SG360° are used to insure data integrity through matching technology; to read and write variable data; to detect and verify versioning, to reject defects; to record historical data and to record production data. The Vision Inspection Technician will be responsible for setting up and troubleshooting the vision systems on up to 80 different machines. He/she shall also be responsible for training the operators on the proper handling and operation of the system.

Below are a list of the required skills and duties. These skills will be learned on the job and through formal education in partnership with the ICATT Apprenticeship Program and Oakton Community College.

Essential Functions:

Responsible for setting up and troubleshooting

Digital camera and machine vision knowledge

Proven understanding of optics, camera technology and illumination

Good logical problem-solving skills (thinking through and resolving problems)

A natural engineering aptitude and passion

Strong knowledge of PC’s (how to disassemble and reassemble, how to navigate in Windows XP and Windows 7, how to use various programs and applications)

A good working knowledge of PC technology and industrial controls

Understand data formats, i.e., comma delimited, fixed width, etc. and basic data base structure

Understand electrical sensors such as photo eyes, proximity switches and encoders

Good mechanical skills (Mounting bracketry in machines, running cables, mounting sensors, and cameras)

Good electrical skills (Volt-Ohm meters, light schematic reading, DC/AC voltages)

Great communication skills (Training operators and other technicians on proper operation and maintenance of our systems). Working with OEM engineering, service and sales team

CAD

Experience in the operation of hand tools and some machine shop equipment

Background in the Digital Printing and the Direct Mail Industry

Maintain a clean and organized work environment

Follow proper work procedures to comply with SG360° safety and security rules

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

High School Diploma or GED

College ready test scores 9ACT 17/Accuplacer, tests can be retaken)

Other:

Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable car

Willingness to attend and successfully participate in paid college courses two days a week (depending on course schedule) and work three days a week

Attend classes at Oakton Community College

Three year apprenticeship program

Complete Associate Degree in Mechatronics Engineering Technician

Physical:

Must be able to walk or stand for entire work shift (8 to 12 hours)

Must be able to carry up to 25 lbs.

May be exposed to hot/humid and/or dusty work environment

May be exposed to controlled non-toxic chemical mists or vapors.
