Human Resources Generalist

Summary:
Responsible and accountable for assisting with the development and implementation of processes, policies, procedures, and metrics that support the achievement of the organization’s business goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Recommend and participate in the development of policies, procedures, activities, and programs for recruiting/staffing, employee education/training, management development, employee relations, affirmative action, benefits and salary administration.

Direct and coordinate all staffing activities for the business unit, ensuring the recruitment of highly qualified talent capable of supporting the short and long term needs of the business.

Develop programs to enhance and improve employee engagement.

Partnering with manufacturing, distribution, and sales, assist with ensuring business unit and company safety, service, cost, and people goals are met by designing organization structure, business processes and systems that are value-added and support the strategic goals of the business unit and company.

Provide support to managers on staffing decisions, legal issues regarding hiring practices, and development of position selection criteria.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws.

Interpret and apply Human Resources policies, procedures, and programs, ensuring consistent application while working with management to provide solutions that balance business and employee needs in compliance with company policy.

Communicate and administer benefits and compensation programs consistent with plan design and provisions.

Administer disability and FMLA programs, with a focus on effective management with respect to cost, compliance, and employee relations.

Collaborate with local and company training resources to develop and deploy training, education, and communication tools to support the implementation of new processes and ongoing employee development.

Develop and maintain a positive, productive relationship with supply chain leadership team.

Partner with all functional departments to ensure meeting business unit and company safety, service, cost, and people goals.

Plan and conduct new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals.

Participate in compensation and benefits surveys and/or conduct surveys.

Maintain records of insurance coverage, pension plan, and personnel transactions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, and terminations.

Maintain reliable attendance and consistent work hours.

Education/Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline.

Minimum of 4 years significant, direct, and practical Human Resources Generalist experience in food/beverage, consumer products, or manufacturing industry required.

Experience in a union environment/union avoidance preferred.

Other Functions :
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to build consensus and foster positive relationships.

Capacity to solve problems through creative, innovative solutions and challenge traditional methods of accomplishing tasks.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast paced and demanding environment.

Proven leadership skills and an ability to work effectively with a management team to maintain and enforce Human Resources practices and programs.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and in a variety of cultures.

Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and present training programs.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations :
PHR or SPHR highly preferred.

Supervisory Responsibility :
No.

Working Conditions :
Primarily office.

Language Skills:
English is the primary language skill; however, bilingual skills may be beneficial based on business necessity.
