Wheelabrator Environmental Systems corporate office in Portsmouth, NH is currently looking to add a Human Resources Generalist to our team. In this role you will be responsible for applying business knowledge and Human Resources expertise across diverse functional areas while performing a wide range of HR- related functions. The ideal candidate will play a key role in the success of the organization by offering guidance on HR best practices while facilitating a positive relationship between employees, the business, management and the HR team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs moderately complex Human Resources related duties at the professional level and carries out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: employee relations, labor relations, training, compliance, benefits and compensation administration.
  • Supports the HR department in implementing and administering programs to help improve the employee experience. Assists in development and implementation of human resource policies and procedures.
  • Administers HR policies and procedures. Collects and analyzes HR data, assists the HR Business Partners with tasks as assigned and makes recommendations to Management.
  • Provides direct support to HR Manager’s in various areas such as employee relations, training and development, benefits and compensation, policy and procedure compliance, organizational development, performance management, succession planning and other corporate initiatives.
  • Manages HR help desk calls and resolves employee inquiries/ questions.
  • Conducts new hire orientation and onboarding of employees.
  • Assists in resolution of employee problems including coaching, counseling and discipline.
  • Monitors for compliance to Federal, State, and local laws and company policies.
  • Develops and analyzes HR metrics to include help desk.
  • Recommends new approaches to continuously improve efficiency of the department and services performed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or similar area of study.
  • This position requires 3-5 years of previous experience in an HR role.
