HR Associate

The HR Associate provides professional expertise and support in all areas of HR with a specialized focus on Training and Employee Leave. This position will manage the HRIS systems, lead employee orientations, administer employee leave (i.e. FMLA, ADA) and will have full ownership of creating and maintaining the training plans for all employees. The HR Associate evaluates trainings for effectiveness and is responsible for development of reporting for measurement of training needs and results. The HR Associate will also work on special projects in coordination with the corporate office and other US plants as assigned.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Consults with department managers and supervisors to assess training needs

Partners with Sr. Training Manager from Chicago to deliver Bel training programs

Develops, implements and delivers training programs for all employees (salaried & hourly) at the plant

Develops and maintains continual education support materials to be used for reference once training has been completed

Continually evaluates training progress and training procedures to monitor and analyze course effectiveness and update curriculum as needed

Coordinates and leads all new hire orientations acting as the first point of contact for new employees

Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork

Administers leaves of absence including FMLA, STD, and LTD according to policy and federal/state regulations

Initiates and engages in interactive conversations as needed

Initiates and manages all correspondence with employees with leave of absences

Manages the Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) to ensure accurate record keeping

Manages and maintains all HR files to ensure accurate record keeping

Follows all Good Manufacturing Practices as stated within the policy

Follows all Safety rules & procedures by working safely and ensuring safety of others

Follows all food safety procedures

Follows all environmental protocols as applicable

Follows all sanitation procedures and work instructions

Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

High School Diploma and/or equivalent experience required

Bachelor’s degree preferred

2+ years of HR experience and/or communications required

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel

Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing tasks and responsibilities of the job.

The employee works in causal office environment located at the Brookings plant. The employee is occasionally expected to walk within the plant which requires personal protective equipment to be worn. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Protective Equipment:
When in the plant, employees must wear personal protective equipment, as required, which could include an assigned work uniform, hair and beard net, safety glasses, designated shoes, and ear protection.

Additional equipment may be required to follow all safety rules and procedures by working safely and ensuring the safety of others.
