HBO Accountant, Corporate Finance

OVERALL SUMMARY:

Responsible for forecasting, reporting and analysis for HBO Films and Original Programming (licensed and produced content). Reports to West Coast Corporate Finance, Senior Manager.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform the monthly close process for HBO Films and Original Programming, including preparing month-end journal entries and reconciliations.
• Work with Production Finance and Operating Groups to develop monthly cash flow and P&L forecasts for HBO Original Programming.
• Prepare forecast variance analysis to budget and prior periods.
• Maintain accounts within the general ledger and forecasting financial system.
• Consider current business events and evaluate impact on close and forecast reporting.
• Review and analyze license contracts to determine appropriate accounting policy.
• Prepare production tax incentive summaries for internal tax group.
• Respond to inquiries related to Sarbanes-Oxley and internal/external auditors.
• Work on ad hoc projects involving financial analysis and deal summary.

REQUIREMENTS
:

• BS in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA or MBA preferred, Entertainment experience a plus.
• 2-3 years professional experience, preferably in public accounting.
• Strong analytical skills with a solid understanding of accounting principles and regulations.
• High level of proficiency in Microsoft applications with a focus on Excel, PowerPoint and MS Word.
• Must be enthusiastic, creative, and analytical.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
• Experience Budgeting and/or Forecasting P&L and Cash Flows a plus
• Ability to manage simultaneous projects, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Strong organizational skills with willingness to attend to detail.
• Strong sense of initiative (self-starter) with proven ability to work independently.
• Strong communicator with the ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of corporate and operational staff and management.
