Job Description Summary

This position handles the underwriting and selection of risk on the new and renewal group benefits for various Life and Health products underwritten by various companies as marketed by Transamerica.

  • First point of contact for TVPs, RVPs and brokers/agents requesting a quote or proposal of outside of the standard website proposals
  • Priniciple underwriting resource for account management, customer service and eligibility units
  • Principle underwriter for unique cases and new products
  • Evaluates risk, establishes rates when necessary and determines underwriting offer and participation requirements for groups over 5,000
  • Creates proposals and offer details to field partners on groups that fall outside of the web proposal parameters
  • Follows department procedures and company policies for communicating and documenting all offers
  • Maintains unit standards for the accurate and timely production of group life, health and disability proposals and group insurance renewal actions
  • Provides approval and verbiage to be used when amending or endorsing a Master Contract
  • Establishes and maintains excellent business relationships with field partners, Account Management Department, Marketing Department and other business units.
  • Works with other Underwriting staff and Actuary team members for approval on unique cases and new products
  • Recommends ideas and changes for process improvements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years Group life or health underwriting and/or Worksite marketing experience.
  • Demonstrated skill in AWD or similar system, MS Office skills, risk assessment skills, strong platform skills and strong financial analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of Group Life , Long Term Care ( LTC ) and/or Critical Illness products

Working Conditions

Normal office environment or home office environment

Location – it is preferable that this employee be in the Greater Little Rock, AR area however will consider applicants to work from home
