Graphic Designer

IEM is seeking a Graphic Designer that will create visual designs that effectively communicate product function and brand identity, including the design and production of screen layouts, color palettes, typography, user interface elements, and icons. You must be able to create simple and seamless experiences across a variety of apps and platforms by distilling product requirements and user goals into sketches, wireframes and prototypes. Must have a strong individual sense of aesthetics and be able to bring stylish, elevated ideas to the table. In addition, have the ability to deliver clean, on-brand designs based on existing style guides and brand guidelines in a fast-paced environment.

You will be working with a highly creative team made up of UX/UI designers, developers and project leads working in an agile environment. You will bring a fresh perspective and use cutting-edge approaches to create design elements.

Job Requirements

• Intrinsic design abilities, typographic skills, digital expertise, and acute attention to detail
• An ability to take an interaction design concept and translate it into production-ready mockups, assets & icons for any platforms including desktop, web and mobile apps
• Work closely with fellow designers, UX designers and front-end engineers to ensure the solidity of design systems and deliver best-in-class visual designs.
• Help build and maintain a visual identity – managing brand consistency across all touch-points in the customer journey through the creation of design specs, standards, style guides, toolkits, and processes.
• Produce design specifications, storyboards, scenarios, and design prototypes.
• Demonstrated success designing print, web and multimedia products that convey complex messaging
• Ability to turn abstract concepts and messages into compelling visual storytelling always with a user-centric design focus
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to successfully communicate conceptual ideas, detailed design, and design rationale, both verbally and visually.
• Able to effectively prioritize multiple projects to meet competing deadlines
• Works well under pressure and can thrive in a deadline driven atmosphere
• Developing clean and effective graphic templates and style guides

Minimum Requirements:

• BA or higher in Art or Graphic Design or related field
• 5+ years’ experience in product user interface design
• Experience with DHS / USCIS UI/UX projects preferred
• Must be legally authorized to work in the US
• Must be able to qualify for a Public Trust (DHS) Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Understanding of basic Human Centered Design philosophy, comfortable with ambiguity and pushing design methodologies
• A solid knowledge of best practices and tools used in user-centered interaction design, design processes and methodology, particularly as applied to Web-based applications
• Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Sketch and In Design thorough understanding of graphic design principles, including screen layout, color theory and typography as it applies to the final app and interactions
• Knowledge of capabilities and limitations of Web technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, Flash, and CSS
• Knowledge and practice of Agile Methodology
• Ability to develop 508 compliant user designs
• Mobile experience (native apps, responsive web design, etc).
• Experience designing motion graphics with tools such as Adobe After Effects is a major plus
