Graphic Designer

JOB SUMMARY Under the general direction of the Director of Marketing, the Graphic Designer II works to develop trade and consumer-branded materials to support the promotion of the company’s products and ideals across a range of mediums including, but not limited to print, packaging, and digital and packaging. This graphic designer will be particularly responsible for consumer packaging, especially seasonal and product assortment varieties, and will be localizing many domestic materials for foreign markets.

Executes graphic design requests, applying an aesthetic sensibility that is consistent with the company brand;

Localizes domestic assets for international needs, with a keen understanding of the sensibilities of global versus local

Designs seasonal and assortment packaging for international and domestic needs

Art Directs photo shoots to appropriate style guidelines

Consistently uses brand assets including company logos, fonts and colors according to logo/style guides and company standards;

Modifies and designs text-heavy labels in accordance with Marketing Department logo/style guides and templates including revisions to print-ready files;

Develops creative concepts including memes/graphics for social media, sales materials and ads;

Consistently distributes, submits and proofs print files with high degree of accuracy;

Coordinates photography and post-production including retouching photos as needed;

Maintains electronic archives of packaging collateral, marketing materials and images including photography;

Attends press checks as needed

INTERACTION

This position reports to Director of Marketing and works closely with Graphic Designers, Marketing Project Managers, President, and Social Media Specialist.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None but must be a self-starter. EDUCATION/YEARS EXPERIENCE • Minimum: Possession of a Bachelor Degree in Graphic Design or related discipline that would support the knowledge, abilities and skills sets required to perform the full range of job responsibilities herein, plus 5-6 years professional experience of the type and nature described herein.

  • Preferred: Graphic design, advertising degree

Any combination of educational and work experience that would be equivalent to the stated minimum requirements would qualify for consideration of this position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to prepare graphics for print and web as well as working knowledge of printing processes

Ability to Art Direct as needed for photo and video shoots

Knowledge of graphic design principles and various graphic and type file formats

5-6 years of graphic design experience

Must be highly reliable, responsive to time sensitive work assignments, goal oriented, results driven, creative in manner and delivery, affable, and self-motivated.

Work with spirit of enthusiasm, teamwork, cooperation and a sense of urgency.

Maintains a high degree of confidentiality over all matters in the course of business operations including customer and employee information, operational plans, trade secrets and other confidentially intended information and documents.

Ability to multi-task in an efficient, thorough, and prioritized manner; to work quickly, accurately and independently; and, to anticipate needs and solve problems.

Highly proficient with advanced use of Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Sketch-up and InDesign. Basic HTML web coding a plus.

Good working knowledge and an advanced use of Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, Power Point.

Tools and Equipment Used

Standard office equipment including proficient use of personal computer and 10-key adding machine.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

Must have reliable transportation and possess and maintain a valid driver’s license including proof of personal vehicle insurance coverage and insurability under the Company’s insurance carrier standards.

Perform work in a climate controlled office setting.

Sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel and uses hands, arms and legs for dexterity and balance frequently.

Occasionally lifts, carries and balances objects weighing up to 35 pounds.

Pulls and pushes such objects as file drawers, loaded carts, audio/visual equipment, computers and similar office equipment and supplies.

Prioritizes and multi-tasks work and projects requiring good memory, concentration and analytical thinking.

Occasionally is required to perform the safe operation of a vehicle, office equipment and machines, and recognize and abate safety hazards within the workplace.

Must be able to hear, see including distinction of colors, read and communicate verbally and in writing frequently with a wide range of people from divergent socio-economic backgrounds and origins.

Must be physically fit to travel independently by automobile, aircraft, train and all modes of transportation.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quite to moderate.
