Graphic and Digital Designer

This position will be working directly on a government client site in Washington, DC. Previous government experience is desired. A degree in graphic design or a related field is required, as is US Citizenship. The designer will develop and provide creative consultation for original artwork, visual aids, and typographic layout. Products must be created specifically as required by project for either print media or digital display. The products may be delivered to the client in various formats as required, including, jpg, PDF, etc.

What It Takes

• Expert knowledge in industry standard publishing applications to include: Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Adobe Acrobat Professional) plus demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite (must have digital portfolio)
• Highly skilled on the Mac platform is required
• Experience with digital photography and computer-aided photography applications
• Possess minimum of 7 years professional experience in the graphic design and or publishing industry. Knowledge, skills and abilities to include:
• Advanced skills in graphic design practices and use of industry standard software applications including but not limited to the following applications: Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Adobe Professional Acrobat), Microsoft Office Suite
• Basic proofreading skills desired
• Ability to review and proofread his/her assigned projects
• Ability to understand specifications for printing i.e., composition, format, paper stock, and other printer’s instructions
• Ability to develop print and web original designs, concepts, or visual styles for publications, exhibits, or presentation materials
• Ability to transform verbal or written descriptions of items, issues, processes, or events into visual representation without benefit of existing pictures, models, or diagrams
• Ability to guide customers on the advantages and disadvantages as well as the options of various formats, styles, media, and methods of reproduction, suggesting those that best meet the information objectives of each project or presentation
• Ability to produce a wide range of visual communications, illustrations, special designs and layouts from conception to production to communicate the visual requirement of the project(s)
• Ability to create 508-compliant files for web posting
• Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines and schedules
• Ability to work beyond normal working hours and (federal and religious) holidays when needed (will be compensated accordingly)
