GL Staff Accountant

SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

The GL Staff Accountant is responsible for execution of assigned accounting functions at BAND-IT-IDEX, Inc., participates in the month-end and year end closings and performs other accounting duties as assigned.

REPORTING TO : Accounting Manager

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares weekly and monthly recurring journal entries
  • Prepares and analyzes multiple balance sheet reconciliations
  • Performs ad hoc analysis of accounting transactions, operational performance and balance sheet accounts
  • Processes Intercompany transactions
  • Maintains regular interaction with AP, Purchasing, AR and cost functions for analytical and process support
  • Maintains the Fixed Assets Ledger (GAAP only), monitors capital spending and ensures compliance with capital expenditure policies, schedules and follows through on physical inventories as required by IDEX policies.
  • Responsible for ensuring timely and accurate completion of sales/use tax returns and oversees related tax audits.
  • Provides support for the Sarbanes-Oxley, D&T and internal audits as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Four year Business degree in Accounting or related field. At least five years of extensive experience in all aspects of accounting; thorough experience managing internal controls; working knowledge of JDE preferred; experience in payroll processing preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Majority of the time is spent sitting.
  • Requires use of hands and arms at least 60% of the time.
  • Lifting requirements are generally less than 10 lbs. Manual lifting could reach the company maximum 50 lbs.

  • Noise exposure is light to moderate.

Mental/Visual Demands:

  • Close vision and the ability to adjust focus are necessary to perform the job functions.
  • Abstract mental reasoning is required to analyze accounting information and identify process deficiencies.
