Geospatial Data Tech

WPX Energy is seeking a full-time Geospatial/GIS Tech for the Tulsa, OK office.


Responsibilities:

  • Work independently on multiple on-going geospatial/GIS projects, both in the Tulsa office and field offices
  • Produce and maintain spatial and non-spatial outputs, including maps, datasets, and analysis utilizing the ArcGIS software package
  • Import, create, reformat, and/or process data to produce spatial datasets for distribution into databases, applications, or hard/digital copy maps for various projects and business planning
  • Assist with surface issues that may arise during location staking process
  • Work with state and federal agencies and assist with regulatory on-sites
  • Determine, schedule and manage aerial photography needs
  • Communicate with agencies, internal professionals and consultants

  • High-school diploma required. BS in GIS, Geology, Geography, Environmental Science, Land Management, or related field strongly preferred. Oil & Gas Experience will be taken into consideration.
  • Experience with survey equipment, including Trimble Pathfinder and GPS data collection.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. Strong organizational skills are a must.
  • Experience using ArcGIS software package, including ArcMap and ArcSDE.
  • Experience using ESRI tools and extensions, including Spatial Analysis, Linear Referencing, Model Builder, 3D Analyst; ArcSchematics a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to travel between headquarters and field offices regularly for on-going projects and data collection with 30-50% of the time in the field.
  • Thorough understanding of data management and integration.
  • Expertise working with field-survey equipment, including GPS units, Trimble Pathfinder, Terrasync, ArcPad, Arc-Collector.
  • Expertise with the ESRI ArcGIS suite and related extension packages.
  • Proficiency converting GIS and CAD data; familiarity with field survey practices.
  • Demonstrates ability to work with a variety of coordinated systems.
  • Thorough understanding of oil & gas related field terminology and field safety rules and requirements.
  • Data-driven mentality, independent working approach with the ability to work with a team.
  • Familiar with state and federal agency regulatory/permitting requirements.
  • Basic SQL knowledge required; FME or Python experience is a plus.
