Front-End Engineer

Tinybop makes award-winning educational technology products. Our apps, including The Human Body and The Robot Factory, are played and loved by millions of families around the world.

Now, we’re building a new subscription web product for schools and an educational gaming website for kids. Our goal is to introduce more kids to the invisible and awesome wonders of science by helping teachers introduce STEM topics to their classrooms, easily and playfully.

Working from a solid foundation and with a collaborative team, you’ll help bring these products to market and into the hands of teachers and kids. You’ll also work with our engineering and product teams to build tools and experiences for Tinybop’s full suite of web and mobile products.

This is a full-time role based in Brooklyn, NY.

Your responsibilities include:

• Collaborating on the development of our new product for schools as it enters the market and scales up.
• Implementing web and mobile interfaces.
• Working closely with the product team to translate concepts into efficient, maintainable, and joyful products.
• Working closely with the design team to craft products that are easy to use and accessible to all.

Requirements:
You should have:

• 3+ years of experience building user-friendly web applications for a broad range of people (we’ll want to see your work!).
• Deep experience with HTML, CSS, Javascript, and a modern CMS (it doesn’t matter which one, but it does matter that you spent time to learn it inside and out).
• Experience with a front-end framework like React.js, Angular, Ember.js, or Vue.js.
• Experience working in Photoshop, Sketch, or Illustrator to tweak and export assets.
• Experience working with RESTful APIs.
• The ability to maintain and evolve an extensible front-end application.
• The ability to operate in a startup environment and maximize limited resources.
• Self-motivation and enthusiasm for growing a company and brand.
• A desire to seek out tough challenges. You enjoy finding creative solutions.
• The ability to communicate technical issues to all team members.
• The ability to give and receive honest feedback.

Extra points for:

• Experience writing application-level code in a modern programming language (e.g., Python, Ruby).
• Management experience.
• Experience with ad-related technologies.
