) is seeking an individual who enjoys a challenge and strives for continuous improvement to join the Business Service Center team as an Financial Services Specialist.
The Business Service Center (BSC), located in Twamley Hall, offers financial services to over 30 UND departments with plans to expand this centralization of financial services. This is a professional position reporting to the Business Service Center Manager under the direction of the Assistant Controller within the Division of Finance & Operations. The position will be assigned to serve specific department customers, supporting those customers with payroll, general accounting for revenue and expenditures, processing of financial transactions, and preparing related financial reports. The successful candidate will demonstrate integrity and ethics in all business transactions. This position will be part of a team that advocates for process improvements and continually strives to be the benchmark in higher education financial services.

The Financial Services Specialist will
:

  • Prepare, process, and track all payment and procurement transactions of various UND departments, with the appropriate use of general ledger account codes
  • Prepare, process, and track all Payroll/HR related responsibilities of department customers
  • Be knowledgeable of all applicable policies and procedures for payment and procurement transactions and responsible for communicating policies/procedures to department
  • Extensively use PeopleSoft and Microsoft Excel
  • Communicate with vendors on outstanding invoices and orders
  • Monitor department budgets, assist with projections, and communicate results
  • Prepare financial reports as requested
  • Build strong working relationships with departments by attending one-on-one meetings with department customers
  • Advocate for efficient and effective process improvements
  • Attend training opportunities to stay informed of UND policies and financial practices.
  • Serve as an expert resource and first point of contact for the departments on matters related to finances
  • Uses customer service skills with strong service orientation
  • This position will use strong written and verbal communication skills, including active listening, critical thinking, and the ability to write and speak concisely and express thoughts clearly
  • Will contribute to and work in a team environment
  • This position will use their experience in organizing, prioritizing and completing responsibilities in a timely manner
  • Must multi-task in a high volume, fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Must maintain confidentiality with sensitive information

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business related field
  • Experience working with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and in particular, advanced knowledge of data analysis functions of Excel with ability to generate a management summary of the data.
  • Successful completion of criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in an accounting position in a financial office setting
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Financial module
  • Experience in reconciling, processing, and reporting of financial transactions
