Financial Business Intelligence Analyst

At Google, data drives all of our decision-making. As part of the Finance Business Intelligence team, you will use data to inform business and product decisions across the company. Using your technical skills, business acumen and creativity, you will build tools to automate reporting and generate insight that will allow clients to quickly and accurately see how our key business products and processes are performing. Previous experience managing finance systems projects, with emphasis on providing business intelligence and data driven insight through reporting, will have equipped you well for this role. You’ll be involved in projects from inception to delivery, ensuring that your reporting delivers high-quality and relevant data to intelligently grow our business. You will also have extensive knowledge of key financial systems, such as Oracle and Hyperion, and experience working with a range of other business intelligence tools and platforms.

The Customer and Partner Operations team manages Google’s Order-to-Cash (O2C) processes globally across all product areas, including Ads, Digital Goods, Cloud and Hardware. Our team powers Google’s ambitious growth by creating innovative ways to manage our complex set of transactions, making processes more efficient and scalable, minimizing operational risk, integrating Google acquisitions and new products, connecting with new payment partners and so much more.

As a Business Intelligence Analyst, you will design, develop and implement end-to-end technical solutions to drive optimization of our processes and large scale financial operations, including reporting suites, machine learning, robotic process automation (RPA) and internal web applications. You will closely collaborate with global teams across Operations, Product and Engineering, and will have Google’s cutting-edge technologies available to power your projects.

And nobody at Google loves big numbers like the Finance team when providing in depth analysis on all manner of strategic decisions across Google products. From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and explore opportunities to optimize processes and operations.
  • Manage the end-to-end development of technical solutions, from partnering with multiple stakeholders to gather detailed business requirements, through technical design, development, testing and implementation.
  • Play a dual-role of project manager and technical lead on concurrent initiatives, supervising the work of third-party vendors and ensuring projects are completed timely, while meeting business requirements with exceptional level of quality.
  • Design and build reporting suites, managing complex and large scale data sets; Develop web applications and RPA bots to increase operational efficiency and mitigate risks.
  • Solve complex business problems with sophisticated solutions; Work with Engineering partners to shape and drive the development of BI infrastructure including data warehousing, reporting and analytics platforms; Perform analysis of issues, and provide recommendations to operations and product teams.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or other similar quantitative field
  • 4 years of relevant experience in the fields of Business Intelligence, Analytics and/or Software Development
  • Experience using SQL for extraction and transformation of data sets.
  • Experience designing, developing and maintaining reports, dashboards, and data visualization tools.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with advanced data science techniques (statistical models, machine learning, multivariable regressions, etc.)
  • Experience in the end-to-end development of web applications
  • Experience in designing and implementing Robotic Process Automation (RPA) solutions
  • Development experience in designing and delivering data warehousing solutions
  • Solid knowledge of server-side and client-side programming languages (Python, Java, JavaScript, etc.)
  • Knowledge of core financial processes (e.g., accounting, billing, collections) and/or financial systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP).
