Under the direction of the Finance Director of the Cancer Center Protocol Office at the MGH Cancer Center Protocol Office, this position is responsible for the development of research budgets and maintenance of ongoing clinical trials. This position will also be responsible of all accounts payable and receivables related to the conduct of clinical trials.

Specific Duties:

Budget Development

Per direction of the Finance Manager, maintain and develop a standardized model and format for pricing all clinical research activities required by protocols.

Responsible for interpreting the National Coverage Decision Act legislation as it relates to clinical trial budgets.

Study Development

Complete Fund Budget Request Forms to set up funds for clinical trial studies.

Assure that study budgets agree with contract language and adjust accordingly.

Facilitate submission and completion of other financial study documents, i.e. CTA’s, Confidentiality Agreements.

Maintain and monitor study budget/contract expiration dates and initiate budget amendments accordingly.

Maintenance of Study Fund Accounts:

Perform accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks for fund accounts (i.e. invoice sponsor for earned milestone payments, monitor sponsor payments, review, approve and initiate payment for research study bills.)

Monitor and report on revenue earned for work performed on clinical studies

Perform monthly reconciliations of study financial accounts

Create various financial analyses reports as needed.

Other tasks assigned per Research Finance Manager.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field or equivalent work experience.

Ability to work independently; excellent organizational skills and ability to use one’s time efficiently with only minimal supervision.

Excellent social and interpersonal skills.

Computer literate; must have strong Excel, Word, accounting software experience.

Previous experience in clinical, research or health care field preferred.
