Financial Analyst 1

GENERAL SUMMARY :

Responsible for operation, maintenance, and reporting of certain accounting and finance functions and/or systems. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing the settling of the daily cash position, accounting for investments, brokered deposits, overnight and term borrowed funds, and fixed assets as well as assisting with the Accounts Payable function, as needed. Shares responsibility for various other financial accounting and reporting functions. Also involved in community initiatives as needed to support the development of relationships in the communities the Bank serves.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

  • Serves as primary backup to the Senior Financial Analyst, assisting in managing the daily workflow of the Finance department. Responsible for day-to-day securities movements and transactions, tracking pledged collateral, and assisting with reporting functions of the Finance department such as, but not limited to, back-testing ALM reports, forecasting, ALCO, liquidity and profitability reporting, and preparation for annual examinations and audits.
  • Assumes a variety of accounting responsibilities including, but not limited to, accounting for borrowings and brokered deposits, fixed asset accounting, investments accounting, and daily monitoring of the cash position of the Bank.
  • Reconciliation of overnight fed funds accounts (FHLB), investments transaction account (FHLB), and prepaid and accrual accounts, including creation and posting of general ledger entries. Preparation and posting of wire transfer activity related to bank cash position, interest payments, and other internal use wire transfers.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of downloaded reports from reporting tools to Excel worksheets for use in financial reporting. Responsible for archival of department work papers. Responsible for tracking all GL reconciliations in the GL Certification Program.
  • Prepares, or assists in preparing, accounting reports for management and for outside agencies. Assist in automating and maintaining automation integrity of reports generated by the Finance department.
  • Assists in ensuring all department processes and procedures are in compliance with FDICIA guidelines, and that all reports are reviewed for consistency and accuracy.
  • Provide professional, courteous, and efficient service to all internal and external customers.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as a backup to the functions of Senior Financial Analyst position.
  • Complies with safety and security procedures and guidelines.
  • Actively participates in community involvement opportunities.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING REQUIRED :

Bachelor’s degree required along with proven experience in a business environment.

Excellent organizational and personal computer skills. Proven aptitude for learning software applications. Extensive Microsoft Excel skills preferred.

Good follow-up ability/skills, ability to foster a “team” atmosphere.

WORKING CONDITIONS :

Physical conditions are generally pleasant and comfortable.

Minimal physical effort required. May sit or stand with freedom of movement on a regular basis.

Handling of moderately heavy materials (up to 20 pounds).
