Financial Analyst 1

Conducts and documents simple to moderate financial analysis projects and assignments in support of the financial management functions of the Company. Performs such work in accordance with Company, regulatory and safety procedures.

1. Compiles and prepares routine reports, graphs and charts. Maintains databases and reporting systems comprised of financial and business related information. Responsible for data integrity. May assist in developing databases and reporting systems under the direction of senior financial staff. Prepares standard and routine analysis for internal management purposes.
2. May act as a liaison between cities and internal business partners such as billing, marketing, tax, measurement, revenue management, operations, and customer support associates. Reviews daily revenue management reports for accuracy and completeness. Corrects order and customer data errors.
3. Conducts basic financial analyses and research in such areas as financial and expense performance, rate of return, depreciation, working capital, and investment. Participates in preparation of financial forecasts and trends in sales, general business conditions, and other related areas.
4. Supports higher-level staff in the preparation of a detailed work plan and/or schedule, completion of detailed analysis and research, identification of alternative options, preparation of reports for management, and recommendations for action or change.
5. Under direct supervision, and in accordance with established procedures, performs work that is somewhat complex and varied in nature, requiring some evaluation, originality, or ingenuity. Knows and uses fundamental financial analysis concepts, practices and procedures.
6. Works typically on smaller, less complex projects/assignments that have limited impact on department deliverables, and may provide ad hoc support for larger projects/assignments that have significant impact on department deliverables.
7. Works in compliance with established procedures and practices. Resolves readily identifiable, clearly-defined problems. Exercises some judgment in completing assignments and projects with regular in-progress checks of output by a higher-level coworker and/or supervisor.
8. Demonstrates basic knowledge and skill in data analysis techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information and inconsistencies/anomalies in routine research/data. Knows and uses fundamental financial analysis concepts, practices and procedures.
9. Provides support as needed to higher-level staff in the development and completion of financial analysis studies related to acquisitions of cities, communities, large volume customers and other systems in the business unit’s region or area of operation. Gathers detailed financial operating information, as needed, to support the business unit’s recommendation.
10. Assists higher-level staff as needed in the preparation of economic and business analyses on special projects and proposals submitted to various Company departments. May interface with management in determining the appropriate analytical approach, preparing analyses and interpreting results.
11. Participates as needed in the development of financial, business and due diligence studies for business unit management regarding potential development opportunities.
12. Provides support for higher-level staff as needed in conducting audits of financial records and in developing economic models and forecasting scenarios in support of business decision evaluations.

Qualifications


Preferred Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, preferably accounting.

Candidate should possess strong analytical and communication skills, interfacing with various Company departments and third party representatives. Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred. Experience with Microsoft Access, SAP, and/or Oracle a plus.

Job duties to include:
Conduct analysis of internal management reporting; Develop, analyze, and maintain various SAP reports; Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts; Maintain a contracts repository; Compiles and prepares invoicing packets; Provide status updates on billing of projects and accounts receivable
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Educational/Experience Level: Requires Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration or equivalent.
Communication Skills:
Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers in order to obtain and/or provide explanations and/or information on technical and other complex concepts to individuals.
Numeric Skills:
Requires the ability to complete assignments using simple to moderately complex statistical, financial and/or accounting methods. Requires strong analytical skills and ability to perform independent analysis.
Computer Skills:
Requires knowledge of various software applications such as MS Word, Excel and Power Point to create routine financial analysis documents, reports and/or graphics.
Work Conditions:
Works in an office environment.
Requires occasionally performing activities including, but not limited to, bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and/or lifting.
