Financial Accountant III

The Financial Accountant III , under direction, performs advanced professional accounting tasks at a University level within the Division of Finance.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Four years of accounting experience in a business office.

Preferred Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in accounting. Experience in higher education.

Professional Certification.

Required Special Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills

Excellent oral and written communication; customer service and problem-solving skills. Ability to comprehend and apply rules and regulations. Practical knowledge of governmental and higher education operations in a specialized field. Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet programs and database program management. Requires ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds.

Duties Performed

Analyze and prepare high-volume account reconciliation. Perform advanced assignments and serve as a resource to recognize, investigate, and resolve outstanding items through entries, meetings, correspondence, identifying corrections, and follow-up. Work with other reconcilers to resolve issues. Assist in and recommend policies and procedures.

Notify, calculate, report and remit Unclaimed Property to each state throughout the year according to their due dates.
