Since 1971, Hopelink has served homeless and low-income families, children, seniors and people with disabilities in the north and east King County, WA. With service centers in Redmond, Bellevue, Kirkland, Shoreline and Sno-Valley (Carnation), we are the largest nonprofit organization in the area. Hopelink programs and services focus on five key areas: food, financial assistance, housing & family development, adult education & employment and transportation/mobility. Programs are aimed at helping people achieve stability, and helping them gain the skills and knowledge they need to exit poverty for good.

Summary:
The Field Service Supervisor oversees a team of 10 – 20 DART Bus Drivers in King County, a diverse staff serving diverse populations. The Field Service Supervisor leads the problem-solving, field training, troubleshooting, performance management, employee relations, and monitoring of drivers; may also be responsible for driver scheduling or recruiting/hiring.

Essential Functions : Oversees safety and procedural compliance for all drivers and vehicles while in the provision of service. Provides in-the-field assistance as required and communicates to the General Manager driver concerns about operational difficulties encountered. Trains and orients drivers; communicates safety and procedural guidelines and policies. Spot checks the completion of pre-trip inspections and monitors compliance to passenger boarding and de-boarding procedures. Monitors, evaluates and identifies drivers for re-training as necessary. Ensures that the hiring, training and performance review processes produced desired strategic results. Completes pre-determined number of safety rides each quarter. Participates as a contributing member of Hopelink’s Management team. Problem-solves areas of concern for drivers and dispatchers throughout the service area. Troubleshoots destinations, routes, scheduling, vehicle and/or driver issues as they arise. Conducts accident/incident investigations in the field. Ensures all reports are completed accurately and completely and are distributed to all required recipients. Responsible for fleet management maintenance schedules, assists with program data (manifests, reports, surveys for Metro, etc.) and fare collection reporting. Monitors driver performance including resolving performance issues and completing performance evaluations in a timely manner following Hopelink personnel guidelines. Works in collaboration with General Manager, Director, and Human Resources on employee disciplinary actions. Operates any and all DART vehicles as needed to cover routes when drivers are absent. Assists the General Manager in recruitment, screening, interviewing, and selection of Driver applicants. Participates as a contributing member of the Division leadership team. Maintains a positive working relationship with government and private funders. Maintains current, clear understanding of contracts and program requirements. Required Qualifications: Minimum of seven years licensed driving experience. Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and web-based software applications. Prior supervisory experience with the ability to effectively manage diverse work styles and personalities. Driven to provide a safety focused work environment. Available to work all days and shifts as required by operation. Must be a self-starter, independent thinker, be able to maintain a positive attitude, and have the ability to problem solve. Ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks requiring consistent accuracy. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. High school diploma or G.E.D. This position is a Service Critical Employee with specific attendance requirements. More information is available in the Hopelink Adverse Weather Policy. Employee must report to work site during their scheduled hours, regardless of weather conditions or other emergencies. Manage own transportation needs in adverse weather, including possible limitations to public transportation options. Have a specific plan to address any other possible attendance barriers that arise during adverse weather and other emergencies, such as disrupted utilities or public services, road closures, school closures, etc.

Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience providing transportation services to the public. Route Match experience. CPR/First Aid Certificate. Defensive Driving Certificate.

Must be able to lift 20 pounds on an occasional basis. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.

Licenses, Certificates and other requirements:

  • Must pass criminal background check through the Washington State Patrol.
  • Must have reliable transportation in order to adhere to service critical employee attendance requirements. Valid Washington State Commercial Drivers License (Class C or higher) with Passenger endorsement or ability to obtain one before hire. Current Driving Abstract with no serious traffic infractions in the past five years. All Safety Sensitive positions are subject to pre-employment and random drug testing.

  • Proof of personal automobile liability insurance.
