F5 Network Engineer

The F5 Network Engineer role is part of a highly technical support team providing implementation and technical support services for F5 Networks products, applications, and solutions to the telecom industry. This includes presentations, product demonstrations, assessment of potential application of F5 solutions, and the development of account plans with a focus on driving sales and customer satisfaction.

  • Provide complex design and systems engineering configurations
  • Maintain a high level of technical knowledge of F5 products and their relevance to the Telecom industry
  • Ability to clearly articulate technical elements of the F5 value proposition to customers and partners
  • Develop and maintain trusted advisor relationships with customer technology staff and management
  • Maintain knowledge of competitive landscape and ability to share knowledge with teams
  • Foster a collaborative, team-based environment, sharing best practices and building lasting relationships
  • Understand the F5 product strategy to identify solutions to meet customer business objectives
  • Utilize systems engineering tool sets: SalesForce.com, Idea, EDGE, Mainstreet and other readiness programs
  • Participate in the development and support of presentations for customers and partners
  • Partners with sales teams to assist with Change Request (CR) and Customer Special Request (CSR) cases
  • Well-developed SME focus
  • Provide world-class customer service
  • Create/maintain customer documentation
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Solve problems independently and creatively
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Job Requirements
• In-depth industry knowledge and understanding of F5 technologies, solutions, and product offerings is required

• F5 Certifications in LTM, GTM, and /or APM strongly preferred

• 5+ years related experience working with network, security and/or web technologies

• F5 core product experience or relevant experience in key competitor offerings

• System administrator skills in UNIX, Microsoft or application knowledge

• Network design background

• Pre-sales experience a plus

• BS/BA or equivalent work experience

• Demonstrate expert knowledge of:

o Industry and F5 Networks-targeted technologies

o Industry trends and cycles

o Windows: NT, 2000, 2003

• Demonstrate proficiency in:

o Configuration and troubleshooting of servers,

o Active Directory

o Domain design

o CIFS/SMB. DFS, FRS experience a plus.

o Unix: Solaris, Linux, BSD, Irix, AIX, HP/UX a plus, with expertise in at least one of the two Operating Systems

• Mastery of storage and storage subsystems

• Advanced written and oral communications skills

• Experience with MS office suite

* Must be local to the Seattle area

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Job may be performed on-site or at as customer facility or data center, or in an office environment sitting at a desk or computer table. Duties require the ability to travel up to 50% via automobile and airplane, and may require being on call periodically and working outside normal business hours (evenings and weekends). Job requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
