Job Summary
:
The Research Analyst, requiring a mix of financial and technical skills, will primarily be responsible for supporting the Equity ETF Portfolio Management team through ongoing fund and index research and the development of systematic tools to aid in the management of the funds. The Research Analyst should have a general knowledge of the markets, index construction and specifically equity index investing as well as data analytics skills. Technical skills are required in the use of database, scripting and web development. The ability to work in a group environment with daily interactions with portfolio managers and operational staff is expected. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to problem solve, manage projects and train others.


Key Responsibilities
:
  • Development and maintenance of proprietary quantitative tools and processes to ensure fund performance to the index, including systematic analysis of index data ensuring the fund matches certain key criteria.
  • Provide quantitative analysis in the portfolio management process through the creation and analysis of optimization and sampling techniques.
  • Technical skills: prior use of databases, scripting and web development is required.
  • Understanding of financial markets is required as well as a basic understanding of index management.
  • Work with across multiple investment teams to optimize current processes and build new solutions.

Qualifications

Work Experience / Knowledge:
  • 2-3 years of relational database experience required (MySQL or similar)
  • 2-3 years of scripting experience required (R, Python or similar)
  • 2-3 years of web development experience required (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, RShiny, etc.)
  • Experience with FactSet and Bloomberg is strongly preferred.
  • Financial modeling experience is preferred.
  • Candidate will require strong technical and analytical skills to analyze trading data and effectively interact with a variety of groups both internally and externally.
  • Ability to make quick decisions, establish priorities and concentrate on detailed information under stressful conditions.

Formal Education: (minimum requirement to perform job duties)
  • Undergraduate degree is required as well as relevant coursework in computer science and/or finance.
