Entry-Level Systems Engineer

The Entry-level Systems Engineer is very dynamic and includes all aspects of Systems Design (“V-model”), customer relations, and proposal creation. The scope of our avionics systems engineering position may include: flight avionics design, data acquisition and conversion, navigation, communication bus protocols, flight software verification, fault tolerance and reporting, ground tooling, aircraft integration, and more. Open communication between hardware, software, reliability, and program management disciplines is integral to the success of this position.

Responsibilities:
Applying systems engineering processes, methodologies and tools to the design of systems and new product development

Performing customer requirements capture, analysis and test of avionics systems comprised of software, electronic, and mechanical subsystems and components

Developing product architecture (systems, software, hardware)

Defining and preparing system-level requirements and allocating them to subsystem design teams (software, hardware, mechanical)

Preparing and reviewing systems documentation, including requirement, design, test procedure, and verification documents

Preparing specifications, interface control documentation, and statements of work

Performing validation of customer requirements, assessment of feasibility via prototyping, and assessment of technical risk

Defining test plans and procedures and performing formal tests for requirement verification

Supporting the integration and test of the system in a laboratory environment both at Astronautics and at the customer’s location

Required Qualifications:
BS degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, or Computer Science required

Proficiency in the use of MS Word and Excel required

Must have excellent communication, analytical, organizational and problem solving skills

Must have experience in preparing, developing, and tracing system requirement specifications

Must be a US Citizen or a US Permanent Residence Card Holder

Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge about the operation and design of aircraft navigation and display instruments is a plus

Experience with Avionics, Aerospace, or Military systems design preferred

Familiarity with military and FAA regulations certification requirements for avionics equipment and software, as well as working knowledge of ARP 4754 preferred

Experience using requirements management and version control systems (e.g.: DOORS) is preferred
