Entry Level Project Engineer – Mechanical & Electrical

This individual develops, directs and coordinates Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering projects for Bemis North America. Major projects assigned to this position are of greater variety and complexity than those assigned to a Engineer I and accomplished with guidance of a more experienced engineer.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO

Determines customer’s needs by identifying problems and safety concerns. Develop and evaluate solutions thereby defining project scope.

Coordinates, prepares and/or assembles the engineering package/project documentation for each assigned project based on direction provided from manager

Provides the purchasing services for project materials required. This includes reviewing potential vendors, contacts with vendors, coordinating with the Purchasing department, issuing purchase orders, some price negotiation, and expediting delivery.

Manages project costs, project scheduling, and communicates pertinent data to appropriate areas for engineering projects which may vary in terms of scope and responsibilities.

Interfaces with people, departments, and/or companies to insure that equipment is safe, made on schedule and to specification

Assists with installation, checkout, start-up and training as necessary.

Secures and maintains knowledge of current industry practices as they may apply to Bemis products and equipment.

Actively participates on WCOM team and leads teams as requested.

Technical Expertise: Able to apply basic engineering and design principles to designs and troubleshooting approaches.

Project Management: Basic/entry-level project management skills. Uses a consistent and organized methodology to gather and analyze data. Follows-up on action items and communicates with internal and external parties.

Decision Making and Analysis: Identify engineering problems, research and evaluate solutions (with coaching from manager). Demonstrates aptitude for conducting useful research, and able to present conclusions and suggestions.

Communication: Develops skills for efficient communication with internal and external customers, team members and leadership. Communicates in a timely manner and develops listening skills.

Leadership: Has a high level of personal credibility; follows through on commitments. Ability to work effectively under pressure and maintain self-control when faced with unexpected challenges.

WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU

A bachelor’s degree in engineering- BSME or BSEE with 1-2 years of experience.

Internship or co-op experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Trade journals and technical seminars

Basic knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft software, including: Word, Excel, and Project. Capable of using AutoCAD and any required electrical programming software.
