Entry Level IT Technician

Leading steel manufacturer is seeking a computer savvy individual to assist our Technical Support Specialist with day-to-day activities. This person must be well versed in the technical aspects of the position and have a strong desire to learn and work independently on projects requiring a high degree of focus and attention to detail. You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to effectively communicate technical information, in a comprehensible manner, to personnel who are not familiar with technical terms.

Job Duties:

Set up desktops, laptops, workstations, related equipment and peripheral devices (keyboards, mice, printers, cell phones etc.)
Install and configure appropriate software and functions according to specifications
Perform basic problem solving and assistance on various software applications and hardware systems for company users
Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems related to software issues, including removal of virus and malware infections
Troubleshoot and resolve general system hardware, software and network failures and conflicts
Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment
Provide individual instruction to users on new or updated technologies.
Perform routine technical assistance and maintenance duties
Perform miscellaneous job related duties as assigned

Additional Knowledge:

Technical experience working with computer components, hardware, and software
Microsoft certifications a definite plus but not required
Should be able to build a computer from scratch, install OS, drivers and configure
Proficient in the installation and configuration of computer hardware and peripherals
Must be able to type quickly while communicating with company personnel over the phone
Must be agile (able to move around in tight spaces, crawl under desks, and run cable)
Must be able to lift anywhere from 25-50 lbs. as required

Education:

Must have high school diploma
College students encouraged to apply

The ideal candidate will be eager to learn as we will train you on specific software however, it is imperative that you already be familiar with computer hardware, windows operating systems and how external devices communicate with the operating system/computer hardware

Pay and Schedule:

$10.00 – $12.00/hr. based on experience

Shift: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday

Job Type: Full-time
