Entry Level Engineer

Brown and Caldwell, a national environmental engineering firm, has a new opportunity for an entry level engineer to join us in our Salt Lake City, UT office location. This is an exciting opportunity to participate in water/wastewater projects and to work in a growth-oriented professional consulting office where you will work with and be mentored by strong, nationally recognized, senior technical staff.

Job Expectations:

Under the supervision of senior staff:

  • Perform engineering work with the water/wastewater engineering group
  • Work on engineering designs preparing reports, construction plans, specifications, calculations, equipment selection, and cost estimates for various projects
  • Check performance or conformity with plans and specifications through field observation and testing
  • Assist with the preparation of technical memoranda, reports and electronic deliverables
  • Assist with studies and alternative analysis
  • Develop understanding of regulatory and permitting requirements for State of Utah
  • Assist with development of permitting plans and permit applications
  • Duties will also include field activities such as site investigations
  • Data collection, processing, analysis, and documentation

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • B.S. degree Chemical, or Civil/ Environmental Engineering; M.S. degree preferred
  • Experience and/or coursework in water/wastewater treatment and conveyance required
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record may be required
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) preferred
  • Experience using engineering calculation software (MathCAD, MATLAB) preferred
  • Experience using biological process modeling software (BioWin, GPS-X) is beneficial
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills essential
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Previous related experience a plus but not necessary
