Division : Wood Products

Responsibilities : This posting is for an Engineering Tech or Sr, DOE.

Develops complex drawings of wood manufacturing lines and facilities, material handling equipment, fluid processes and related infrastructure; creates detail drawings to support the fabrication of machine components and the construction of mill infrastructure; visits mills to obtain field measurements, conducts 3D point cloud scans, and then reduces acquired data. Schedules Division wide design efforts with minimal direction from senior engineering staff. CAD expert that shares expertise and assists others across the Division. Checks consultant and machinery manufacturer design drawings to identify and resolve conflicts and to confirm compliance with Boise Cascade design specifications, best practices, and drawing standards. Simultaneously performs design work on multiple projects. Yearly average 30% travel.

Basic Qualifications : Requires an Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent. Requires advanced capability using AutoCAD, 3-D solid modeling software (preferably SolidWorks), 3-D point cloud scanning, and PC Software including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.

Sr Level: In addition to the above requirements, individual must possess skill in engineering technology, machinery general arrangements, mechanical design, detail design, drafting, developing electronic drawing templates and managing electronic drawing databases.

Preferred Qualifications : Prefer between 0-4 years of experience in related job function; prefer mechanical design experience in a heavy industry – wood products manufacturing desired.

Sr Level: Prefer more than 6 years of experience in related job function as a senior mechanical designer, with 5 years of mechanical design experience in a heavy industry – preferably wood products manufacturing. Successful candidate must have significant experience performing the full range of design activities, developing conceptual general arrangements of manufacturing lines, detail design of machines, fluid processes and concrete, working with project teams to finalize designs and developing approved for fabrication/construction detail drawings. Design packages should set the standard for integrity and clarity. Portfolio should include personal design details and drawings from a significant number of installed machines, manufacturing lines, and manufacturing facilities.

Incentive Level : 4%-10% DOE
