Engineer, Geologist, or Environmental Scientist I

West Yost Associates (West Yost) seeks a talented and motivated entry-level Engineer, Geologist, or Environmental Scientist with diverse interests in storm water, water supply, water treatment, and watershed management. Candidates with varied levels of experience and a desire to develop their career toward a project management role with expanded professional responsibilities are ideal.

Key Responsibilities and Functions:

• Preparing for and facilitating public meetings and multi-agency subcommittee meetings including scheduling meetings, meeting minutes, and agendas
• Organizing communications and tracking schedules for technical deliverables
• Organizing, editing, and tracking the preparation of monthly public outreach articles
• Researching/reporting on technical and legislative topics relevant to water issues
• Gathering technical information and data and assisting in database and GIS applications
• Preparing, posting, managing and tracking online website and social media content
• Supporting field work by preparing technical documents, permits, coordinating with subcontractors and assisting with data collection

Basic Qualifications:

The candidate must have at least a BA/BS in Civil Engineering, Geology, or Environmental Sciences. The ideal candidate should have coursework and preferably some research experience relating to watershed planning, public infrastructure, and water resources. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong proofreading and editing skills are essential. Relevant experience and CAD and GIS skills are desirable. Must have a valid California driver’s license as some travel may be required.
